A trillion years is reduced to a grain of sand and each grain of sand represents a trillion years. How many grains of sand can fit beneath your fingernail right now? Each grain represents a trillion years of torment in hell. Each fingernail is blocked with sand, so now think of how many grains of sand would fill a single drop of water? Even 5 grains in the drop are 5 trillion years of torture your creator has forsaken you to. The water drop is in the teaspoon you last used or the cup you last drank from. Are the grains in the hundreds now, or thousands? Your cup overflows and sand now covers the desk your hand is rested on. We’re now thinking of tens, or even hundreds of thousands of grains of sand; each grain is unbearable torture.

The sand crawls flows off the desk to every nook and canny it sees- trillions and trillions of additional years of pain. The sand covers the entire floor; rising higher and higher, filling the room until the windows finally burst. The sand is well in the millions if not billions of grains now: each grain, a trillion years of torture. The momentum builds like a tsunami, covering the entire suburb you’re in. Billions of grains of sand.

The sand expands to the lowest depths of the ocean to the world’s highest mountains. It takes weeks to climb to the top of Mount Everest: If the mountain were covered in sand, how many years would it take you just to count each individual grain on your ascent before you reached the summit; would you even finish it in a lifetime?

The entire earth is finally covered in sand. Centuries can’t even count each grain of a trillion tortures. God allows the sand to multiply; trillions of grains as high as the clouds themselves. Your sin of not believing still hasn’t paid off. This one planet can fit about one million earths inside the sun, and so look to your fingernail to start it all over again, one million times. The sun is only a dot in the universe, so now each grain on your fingernail represents this sun and all the years of torture it represents.

This torture of a single being is experienced by billions of other people who also commited the sin of following the wrong religion. All this torture is only just the beginning.

God has many attributes, some of the most beautiful being loving, merciful, compassionate and forgiving. If you comprehend what eternity of torturing means, how can you still believe in eternal hell and believe you have an accurate understanding of God?
* A few days after this above post I saw an Orthodox priest. He told me Orthodox (still the ORIGINAL, unchanged Church of Christiandom) doesn t teach hell is what the Catholics & Protestants say it is.

He said:
(1) Jesus may turn all people to Him. This will be a second preaching at the end of the world;
(2) eternity and hell must be taken in the original context and before translation. It wasn t the lake of fire Catholics/Protestants think it is- God s not an unforgiving torturer
(3) God is love. Hell is the loneliness from the absence of love. Heaven & Hell may be the same physical place; it s what we feel that makes it heaven or hell.
(4) It s likely many Christians will realise there are many non-Christians who were better people who might be more loved by God.

Will research more into Orthodoxy. If it s true, then if I become a Christians, it might be Orthodoxy- with a hell not influenced by the pagan Nordic hell underworld of the vikings.

Genesis 7:20 indicates that the waters of the Biblical flod rose so high that they covered all the mountains. That means that the ark was at an elevation equal to or greater than the higherst mountain-tops.

Now, when people climb Mount Everest, they wear high-tech thermal gear and carry oxygen tanks. Even so anyone who makes an ascent returns the same day or probably dies. It s not because snow and hiking wears them out! It s because at that elevation, there is simply not enough atmosphere to retain heat or to breathe.

Noah, on the other hand, was at that elevation for 150 days (Genesis 7:24)! How is this even possible? Was the ark air-tight and equipped with enough oxygen for himself and all the animals? They can t even burn things to keep warm or it will make their oxygen problem far, far worse! Even if Noah was endowed with an almost superhuman respiratory ability, what about the multitude of animals?

But supposing Mount Everest didn t stop there, but went up and up for ever, or at least into effective space.
People would still be challenged to climb it. With modern equipment they could have got higher I m sure - but how high?
Conversley as it is obviously impossible to climb into space even today, maybe Hillary and Tensing would not have felt sufficiently motivated to make the climb to 29000 feet then, as it would only be, say, 5% to the top. So perhaps the record would have actually been LESS than its current height.
Butt: What are you suggesting? That climbers should don wetsuits and start their climb from the deep?
