• Was the movement to grant black men the right to vote a bluff to keep the vote away from women?
• Why does Puerto Rico vote in the primaries if they cannot vote in the general presidential election?

• How can a president win the electoral vote without winning popular vote?
• Vote for my special local project and i will vote for yours. This political technique?
• Can you vote in the general election if you dont vote in the primary?
• Does the chair of a committee have a casting vote as well as their ordinary vote?
• Who was the president who lost the popular vote and electoral vote?
• Is there a law that states that a deligate vote the way they are sent to the convention to vote?
• Why does a super delegates vote matter more than a regular vote?
•  So is it that McCain supporters are hoping they outnumber everyone else in November 2008??? Is that the plan?
I m an independent, and have not made up my mind completely who I will vote for in November 2008. I tell myself, I ll know when I go into the booth to decide. However, I have to say Obama interests me as of now.

However, I ve noticed that the McCain supporters are simply banking on the idea that they will outnumber all the supporters of Obama and that middle of the road people like me, who are the actual majority in America, will simply shy away from change and go with old-reliable, ho-hum choices. Is that it? Is basically the idea of there being a “silent-majority” out there for the McCain followers? Are they hoping for a miracle election?

Honestly, nothing has come up against Obama that would disqualify him from being President. He has a few flakey people in his past, but then again, so does McCain and every other man and woman on planet Earth. I don t know… but the McCain people might want rethink their strategy.
Simply put in a nutshell……..The McCain campaign and its supporters don t seem to have a gameplan or a prayer of winning in November 2008 based on there past and present performances. The McCain run seems eerily redolent of the Dole campaign in 1996… does anyone even remember that?
Technically speaking, yes, the electoral college can elect whomever they want, but let s be honest, the popular vote, within each state and its rules of procedure, indirectly decides who wins.

•  Why am I being called a white Supremist ?

Ok I get it. I m white. I couldn t control that any more than anyone reading this could determine their skin color (without dyes or a tanning booth). But I voted Hillary Clinton, I supported her because I felt B.Obama was not the best candidate due to simple reasons that anyone of any background would have lost my support due to. I still feel this way. Because of this I have been called a white supremest because I am white, and I don t support B.O. Can ANYONE explain this to me please? Why is this happening?

•  How much longer will America s female voters put up with being denied access to the U. S. presidency fairly?

How long will woman continue to take a back-seat in American politics and election results, although they make up the majority of America and the world for that matter? Why are women in 2008, still accept being treated a second-class citizens, not only in this country, but around the world! How long will females be dominated by males, denied equal opportunity & pay, equal rights and equal representation in the political arean and process? The U.S. Congress should have more female members, than male members given America s total population and gender. Why so few women in these important positions? Why are women so under-represented? Why are they suppressed and controlled, denied access and opportunity in 2008? Why would any female go to the voting booth to once again elect a male to the U.S. presidency, when everyone knows Hillary Clinton was more than qualified and deserving? How and why do the Republicans continue to put “Old White Males” on the ballot when there are women available?

•  How accurate do you think the 2008 presidential polls reflect how people are going to vote?

I know we ve come a long way since the 50s & 60s in terms of attitudes toward race, and Obama will probably get a lot of the young vote, the college-educated vote, & (of course) the African-American vote. But do you think there may be a decent-sized number of people being polled across the country that will vote for McCain in the privacy of the voting booth, but don t want to be on record (with the pollster) as not saying they will vote for Obama (for politcally correct reasons)?

• Voting Question: What are some movies with voting booths in them?
•  Will 2008 offer another stolen election rant for the Dems?

When they lose in Nov. will the Left finally wake up and realize that the also-rans they continuously trot out arent losing because of voting booth foul-ups, but because their candidates have NO CHANCE to pay for all of their ridiculous socialist spending packages?

Universal this, total coverage that, subsidize this, fully funded that, and on and on it goes…

•  Are you going to play eeny, meeny, miny, moe in the voting booth?

There are a lot more areas than just presidential candidates (feel free to play eeny, meeny, miny, moe with the presdential candidates as well and don t neglect third parties).

I think it would speed up the lines since we usually never pay attention to all the other stuff on the ballot.

•  Will American Conservatives become a group of disgruntled voters having to “vote the lesser of 2 Liberals”?

or will Conservatives stay away from the voting booths?

•  Politicians who make great sound bites?

I have asked similiar questions on other boards and gotten the same response. Right now is the time for all of us, and not just Hillary, to take the cue from the national party. And this doesn t just mean we each vote for one guy (or lady) and go our seperate ways. When you get in the polling station or polling booth then pull the lever or punch the card or slap on the box with all of us in mind. And I don t just mean the guy with the most cash or the most charimatic behind him or not behind him or the person who has all the right candidates lined up in like ducks in a row or the person with that guy who smiled a lot and laughed when she was talking and who made such a big deal out of everything he said and every pont he made and when you wave your arms around like that it really annoys me.

• Voting Question: Who pays for the return of absentee ballots?

In the county (Ohio) I live in the cost of returning my absentee ballot in the last election was $.97. Does any government jurisdiction absorb the cost? It would seem to me if we want to encourage voting, this would be one way of doing this. Also it could save a trip to the post office since most ballot returns costs are require odd postage. If one had to go through this it would be the same as going to the voting booth which is one of the reasons for absentee balloting! The easier it is to vote, the more turnout we can expect! Isn t that what it s all about?

•  For the past few years when my husband and I send in our Indiana State Tax forms, the printed out labels an?

and the refund checks have my middle initial wrong. I have sent notes, I always correct it, but it keeps happening. To make matters worse, there is a woman with that middle initial who apparently has bad credit and other $ issues. I have encountered problems at the video store, the voting booth, and now I m getting phone calls from people looking for her because she owes $. What should I do to stop this before it gets worse?
I am saying that the women has my 1st name, but goes by the shorter version with a y at the end, and she has a different middle initial than I have and she has the same last name as my husband and I have. Yes, I am called by the shorter version of my name, but sign every thing with the full version and use my middle initial and last name. The state tax papers use the full 1st name, but the wrong middle initial, and much mailing and many phone calls say the short version of my name and her middle initial with the last name (which is quite common - like Smith )

•  Dems and Repubs… here me out… this is a political question i ve been asking myself…?

If a candidate was blunt. Didn t care about being politically correct, or that the media labeled him this and that… could he get elected considering when people are ANONYMOUS in the voting booth and aren t in jeapordy of being labeled.

For example. Most americans don t believe in gay marriage, so if a canidate bluntly said “Over my dead body will those whiney, fascist, fa gs ever be aloud to be married”, could he win considering many people might respect and agree with him even if they are too afraid to say it in public because they dont want to be labeled???? THANKS
sayu: Why do I have problems. Because I said the word f a g? Hey, the reality is many people are against it but wont speak out because of a fear of being labeled a homophobe, but behind closed doors they vote against it in every election!
I m not trying to offend, however, does it not make sense that people may say that “wow, he s offended so many people, i d never vote for him” publically, in a liberal city… but behind closed curtains vote for the candidate who used that word?
Great point Tom S… cuz when it came down to it they didn t like bush s policys and didn t want people to know they alligned with him… but when it came down to it they voted for him instead of the ultra conservative liberal…. could that happen this election?
TOE TAG: Then why is it constantly voted down, even in liberal states? Only through legislation is it passed… that pisses a lot of people off too

•  Old voting machines and recounts?

Ok, I ve been voting only since 1993 and only on punch cards and ink-a-vote cards. However, when I watch old films, they show people going into a booth with a large wall of switches. Can anyone tell me if these voting machines actually existed, how they work and how they did recounts on them?

•  InAthens it was every citizens duty to participate in decision making. Should voting be compulsory today?

10 of the 30 OECD countries have some form of compulsory voting. Australia has the most extensive form although citizens need only register at their local voting booth and may spoil their vote. In other words they are not actually compelled to vote for any party. Nevertheless there is an 90+% turn out at elections in Australia.

•  Why is it the DNC can send hundreds of buses to pick up blacks on voting day?

but couldn t send ANY to rescue them out of Katrina s path of destruction? Hmmmmm?

If I were black I d be asking myself that question before I stepped in the voting booth on Nov 2.
